Just Doing Their Jobs
In praise of doctors and nurses:
Just Doing Their Jobs
They heard the call. They left the nest. They made the grades. They aced the tests. To all the "nos" they bravely “yessed.” They're just doing their jobs.
They come from north, south, east, and west. They punch their clocks. They don their vests. They share a jab, a joke, a jest. They're just doing their jobs.
They reach inside your father’s chest. They hold his heart. It’s pretty messed. They fix the flaws. They do their best. They're just doing their jobs.
They sew him up. They help him rest. They treat him like an honored guest. They save his life. You say he’s blessed… They're just doing their jobs.
